Organization of the information in the static transit tables

I have downloaded and loaded all the static information about the transit services but I was dismayed at finding that they seem to embed the static information about the lines, stops and their linking with the timetables, to the effect of having trips and pivot table entries only differing for the time/date with a resulting whopping number of both and hundreds of lines passing by a certain stop!
Is there a way to factor out the time/date part and only have the basic lines and a way to link them to the stop?
