GTFS Regional : Is each route/trip only in one GTFS file?

Hello Trafiklab team!
I was wondering if there are cases where a route and/or trip can exist in more than one GTFS regional dataset.

For instance, do the SL Pendeltag trips that exist in the UL GTFS also exist in the SL GTFS feed?

Put another way, if I were to consume all the GTFS regional files without filtering them, would there be cases where information would appear several times (because the same information exists in two different regional files)?

Let me know if you need some more clarification, it's a very specific question.

Thanks!

  • Hi Brody,

Since several regions have overlapping traffic, the same traffic may appear in multiple regional datasets. These regional datasets consist of data that has been converted to GTFS/NeTEx, but they are otherwise unfiltered. This is done to ensure they can be used by the operators themselves, and by 3rd party systems providers.

If you want a national feed without the duplicate trips, you can make use of our GTFS Sweden 3 feed. This feed consists of all the regional feeds which have been merged together, and from which duplicate trips have been removed. Note that this filtering is performed based on manual merge rules, so should you come across any duplicates our data team has missed, please let us know so we can remove them. This GTFS Sweden 3 dataset also merges all the stops from different regions together, so even those duplicates are handled.

    Regards,
